KYB Springs and Shim Stacks

Postby thebob_za » Sat Dec 10, 2016 3:52 am

Right, so we picked up the KYB forks from the Husky TXC today. Gonna need to clean up the fork legs and service them, but that shouldn't be too much of an issue. What we need to sort out is the springs and the shim stacks. So the guy who will be using them is 100kg ready to ride (220lb) and the forks have 4.6kg/mm springs currently, which should be alright we think. Then we need to get some shim stacks to soften the forks up for the slow, rocky and technical riding we do. If anyone has some stacks to share and thoughts on the spring rates, please share them

The forks have been mounted to a 2013 250RR. As far as I know they are SSS forks, but off a Husky, not a Yamaha. Looking at Enduro riding for a club level rider. Some footage of the stuff we ride typically:

If they are the OE forks off the TXC they are "SSS" if they are not the older Zoke 50 mm. I have been using some stacks in the same fork from Glenn. You could send him a PM and see if he would share.

If you can't get a stack I'd be happy to share a starting point for you. There is a huge thread on TT about these forks worth a look for some ideas.
