Shock Spring Dimensions

Postby Hubert Carpet » Sat Oct 25, 2014 10:29 am

To save me having to strip my shock to find out, does anyone have the length and diameter of the standard 5.2 spring on the 2014 300RR, please?

In addition, are the springs the same dimensions as any other makes in case there's a cheaper alternative to the Beta OEM?

Thanks in advance.

I bought a race tech spring with the adapter and it fits nicely.

260mm long, 60 mm ID, 83 mm OD. Shop wisely for a non-Sachs spring - some "compatible" springs have an OD that will rub on the airboot.

Thanks for this info. Much appreciated.

I'm trying to set the sag and I reckon I'm too far down with the adjuster and likely to be cramping the spring action.

I'm about 220 pounds kitted up so a 5.4 spring is probably a wise move.

I used the spring rate calculator on the Race Tech site and it came out at 5.4 for my weight, age, ability, riding style etc. I was a bit surprised but , in the past I have gone up 1 notch on both front and back springs on KTMs and they have been fine.

My shock has about 60 hours on it since the last service so some of the increased sag may be down to gas pressure loss. I'm pretty sure I have had the sag at 105mm but now I can't get better than 115. And I've lost about 10 pounds so it's not down to pies.

Get it serviced! The action will improve dramatically with fresh oil and gas.

I bought my 5.6 genuine Sachs shock from my husky dealer cheaper than Beta. Remember Italian Huskies had Sachs too.
