Linkage and Swingarm Bearings & Spacers

Postby Mslow » Tue Nov 01, 2016 7:19 am

Does anyone happen to know the dimensions of the bearings and spacers for the swingarm and linkage?
Or if there is a cross-reference with another bike?
I need to replace mine and AllBallsRacing doesn't have a kit for the Beta yet but are willing to build one if I can get them the specs.

TIA

Not off-hand, but I do have the OE parts available should you decide to go that way.

FWIW, All Balls stuff is not the greatest from what I have seen.

As someone in the past mentioned...they don't call "All Balls" bearings...that would be wrong

I was able to get the dimensions out of the Beta parts book and go to my local bearing house and get everything except for the upper and lower shock bearings. Steve (Two wheels) had them in stock.

You can avoid all this hassle by scrapping the seals for orings. Grease once a year. Only bearing I have replaced is the upper shock bearing, because its one of those teflon lined sphericals like a PDS shock bearing, and the load surface never changes as the arc is so short.

the thing about All Balls is they are very local to me and I can get them at a fraction of the price through a friend that is sponsored by them.
but if it's a hassle, I may just stick with oem stuff, which is what I prefer. just trying to pinch a few dollars, I still need a new starter and to do the top end in addition to replacing the bearings.

I would recommend to everyone to inspect and regrease the suspension bearings. I don't think the factory puts enough grease in.
Pretty sure this was talked about before too.

Something I've always done to my new bikes since 1985
Never come across one I felt had enough grease in it from the factory

Another vote for "inspect and regrease". Do it ASAP! 'Did mine before the bike had 6 hours on it.

GMP - "scrapping the seals for o-rings", that sounds like a great idea - do you mind sharing more details? O-ring size(s) that work best? I'm assuming you also sandwich the bearing/spacer assembly between a specific sized washer or somesuch with the o-rings on each end?

Nifty idea, I was going to order a kit to have on hand until I saw the cost of the kit - yikes! - so I was researching aftermarket pieces or an alternative. Thanks for sharing.

I will get back here tonight with the details. It essentially makes the linkage maintenance free for a year providing you don't blast it too close with a pressure washer.
