showa rear shock into beta

Postby nigelbates » Thu Apr 20, 2017 2:41 am

I have heard rumors about people fitting showa rear shocks into beta's from crf, kxf etc.

Im having trouble with my sachs shock and cant get the parts so need a solution, I don't really want to spend 1000+ on an aftermarket shock.

Any ideas please?

Really?

Most of us have had the standard piece re-worked and sprung to our weight and are happy.

What sort of issues are you experiencing?

My rear shock is broken and the parts are unavailable, I have no option but to buy a new shock.

Just to expand on the above the failure is not the fault of beta it was caused by a failed aftermarket part. Nothing to do with parts made by beta.

Here's the problem.

Im pretty sure, Aprilia RXV sachs shock has identical lower mounting as Betas do and shock shaft is same lenght? You can find RXV shocks from ebay very cheap(40 USD dollars new!)
this is one example:

What was the aftermarket item that caused this?

Linkage guard snapped. I will look into the sxv shocks, not many in the uk unfortunately.

A suspension guy I know had to write off a few beta sachs shocks due to the anodizing worn away inside and no parts.
I'll ask him is he kept the the other bits as spares.
Might be worth ringing around suspension tuners in your area for similar.

My suspension guy here told me he can get parts for it. He's in Australia so might be an issue.

I had one RXV Sachs shock shaft as a spare in my garage, I took few photos:

total lenght is about 320mm. If anyone has Beta Sachs shock disassembled, perhaps they can verify the fitment?
