My shock has been sent for repair so its in bits but not here, I will send the pictures to them and see what they can work out.

Can you measure a few more things for me, more detail on the threaded end and the shaft. we can build up a better overall picture as these parts are available in the uk but not cheap.

Thanks.

I have an 07 CRF450R mounted on my 300rr. Machined the lower clevis wider and used the Honda lower bolt and nut. Had to grind the top front of the upper mount where it hit the frame. I think from eye to eye it was 1mm shorter. I had an 09 KXF450 on it too but dropped the rear a bit to much for me.

kxf shock from around 2005 ish goes straight in with just a minor grinding of the bottom shock clevis ( about half a mill) . drops the rear of the bike by 10 mm too. i have actually done and fitted this myself so i know its right and they work very well without any valving work.i was given a honda shock to test at the same time but they dont fit without trimming the subframe and i wasnt going to do that !

Dropping the rear seems like a bad idea, Beta's generally need less chopper to work well in front steering.

Reviving an old thread.

I have a 20017 300 RE that my sachs rear shock blew the piston band and wore the hard anodizing off the shock body. Since I have never realy been happy with that shock. I decided to experiment.

2013 KX450 shock . 10mm shorter . Needs minor machining of lower clevis only. I re-valved it with a gold valve set up.
This worked good if I moved the forks up 10 mm and set sag @ 100mm. But the bike never really felt right. And I did not like the ride height.

Next up I got a Showa off a 2007 CRF 450. 1mm shorter. Lower clevis requires more material removed than the KX and the upper shock mount needs 1mm removed to clear frame. The remote reservoir also sits higher so a bit of material needs to be removed from the sub-frame and a little plastic removed from side panel to allow shock adjustment. I also re-valved with gold valve . I have now put 15-20 hrs on this shock set up and love it. :D
