just done three days riding in wales ! forks on the faster going seem to soft or they is something not right inside the forks, i felt every hit ! on slow going they seem fine ! rider weight is 14.5 stone has anyone in the uk had any experts look at there forks! or put harder springs in! any tips or advice ! thanks NED ( my berg 4cs forks seem to work fine on the same trails)

Holy moly, I can't understand more than two words you wrote.

Make sure the forks and shock springs match your weight which includes your gear and water pack, tools. What ever you wear. Stock they are set for 160 pounds I do believe.

If you are heavier than the stock springs you will have a very plush ride in the easy stuff and then blow through the stroke and hit hard.

Respring for your weight and adjust your settings and you should be ok for normal trail riding. If you still don't find a good comfort zone, send the forks out to be revalved.

Ned, I have experienced exactly the same issues and there are a number of reasons for it, primarily that the forks aren't very good.

What oil do you have in them and did it all go to sh!te 400-450 miles after an oil change and your forks turned into pogo sticks?

I had to send mine off to Stillwells to get sorted out. Bit the bullet and had both ends done for balance. Glad I did. Still testing the new setup but so far I am pleased. I am going to try and get out today and run it through some truly nasty stuff.

I'm coming off a bike that was extremely well setup with 4CS forks, I have had my Sachs revalved and they still were no where near the 4CS forks, but the more hours I get on the bike the stock forks seem to be working better.

With that said, I have a set of KYB's sitting on the bench that are going on shortly, I was going to put 4CS forks on it but you can't find decent used set for under $1000, KYB's are plentiful and you can find a set of 06' and up for $300 all day.

It's also a little easyer to make the stock front wheel adapt vs the WP's, and Steve @ After Hours will have a kit shortly.

I should have upper triples for both 2T and 4T early next week. All that's left after that is to adapt a caliper hanger and spin up some axle spacers and shazam, you'll be able to mount KYBs to the front of your Beta. If you don't mind the Yamaha wheel and rotor you'd be ready to go in two weeks time.

I was talking to a guy in the UK yesterday who has put KYBs off a 2012 Husky TCX machine on his 300RR. He said that they fit straight into the Beta yokes and he has fitted a Brembo front brake caliper and KTM front disc to line up the speedo magnet with the caliper mount. He seems well pleased with the improvement. Not sure if he went for open or closed cartridge version.

I assume that there aren't any bikes that use Nissin brakes on KYBs?

Well I have to say I am pleased with the Stillwell setup on my Sachs forks. So much better then the stock setup.
