They were KYB not Showa.

I would double check this.

So to break it down. Which year CRF forks will slip straight in?

All of these Honda forks will fit. They all will need a Honda axle/nut and wheels spacers made. All are 33mm axle off-set.
2009 - 2012 CRF450R KYB AOS spring forks. They will need the Braking 260mm rotor caliper hanger
2013 - 2014 CRF450R KYB PSF1 air forks. They will need the Braking 260mm rotor caliper hanger
2015 - 2016 CRF450R KYB PSF2 air forks. They will need the stock caliper hanger.
2017 - 2018 CRF450R/RX Showa 49mm TC spring forks. They will need the stock caliper hanger.
2010 - 2014 CRF250R Showa 48mm TC spring forks. They will need the Braking 260mm rotor caliper hanger.
2015 - 2017 CRF250R Showa 49mm SFF Air-Tac forks. They will need the stock caliper hanger.

Did anybody swap a set of 2018 crf 450 forks (49mm TC) into a beta by any chance?
I could get a low hour set for a reasonable price, turning spacers etc would not be a problem. Im concerned about the clamps, is there an easy solution?

The offsets are 2.5mm back at the lug from stock Sachs for all Honda forks after 2004. I think it helped the cornering, I am 250lbs so didn't notice any instability at speed but my size helps with that.

I had a 17' CRF450rx for a while and yes the forks slide right in the stock clamps, the forks were the only thing I like about that bike.

I just put crf450l forks on my '16 500rs. I'm 225 lbs and they have .51 springs stock which I was afraid would be too stiff but they work great. They are definitely firm, but very plush initially. Rocks all but disappeared, hoppng logs was improved, and they did well on the MX track. I would call the 33mm offset on improvement if l could even tell the difference.

The most important part to keep in mind is that the 450l has a different bracket so you can't use the 450l caliper bracket - not sure why but here are none instock anywhere anyways. In my search for a bracket I came across oemdirtbikeparts.com who told me the 19+ 450R/RX bracket will not work without the caliper as well. Apparently, the caliper and bracket are redesigned so the new bracket contours don't work with the old style caliper. Everything '18 and older are the same part - 45190-MEN-006 - and its a perfect match to my beta wheel/rotor.
