300RR suspension on 2018 XT

Postby njbill » Sun Nov 18, 2018 8:20 pm

A member here is willing to sell the stock suspension from his 2016 300RR. What would it take to get this to fit on my 2018 Xtrainer? I'm guessing the forks would require new clamps but I am a suspension idiot. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I'll have to research that here.

it looks like the steering stem conical bearings are the same part number and dimensions between the 18 XT and RR 2stroke. It might be that the steering stem itself is the same as well but can’t find a part number for that separate item. You might be able to save some cash and just order the 300RR triples, along with the OC lowering kit...instead of using the Boano stuff. If you have a friend that has a 300RR maybe he could bring it over and see if it fits. Otherwise...you could always talk to your local dealer or Beta USA

To fit 300RR forks onto an Xtrainer you'll need to press an XT steering stem into an RR lower triple clamp.

The RR forks are also longer than XT forks and have 20mm more travel.

Have you actually done this mod before?

I'm curious if the fork's engineered clamping areas line up properly with the triple's new shortened span that this mod appears to be making.

Yes, I've been running shortened Marzocchi 48mm CC forks with RR triple clamps and Xtrainer steering stem on my 2016 Xtrainer for several years now. Boano Racing has offered several 48mm fork kits built like that, including mine, since the Xtrainer was introduced in 2015. The Boano fork kit currently resold in the USA by Beta USA is built the same way.
