2019 cc with premature wear at 10hrs

Postby jmgatx » Mon Feb 04, 2019 8:41 am

2019 300 race I bought new December 30th, 10 hrs on the bike and dropped off to tuner/good friend for revalving.
This is what he found. This "updated" coating that's supposed to improve durability. Plus, an extra clip just floating on inner cartridge piston. Said it fortunately did not cause any damage but definitely could have.
What i cant post is the video of how black and dirty the fluid was.
Question now: What will Beta do?

Any wear inside at the lower clamping area?

Edit: believe it or not, brand new unused tubes will come looking similar or worse in that area by the seal

I'm confused. When the forks are assembled, the bushings don't even rub there. In my (barely educated) opinion, those marks aren't from when the forks are in use.

Yup, my dealer spoke with beta usa and my tuner and all agreed this is different issue from those of past sachs and likely not serious but a product of lazy processing. So I'll run them another 10hrs and take them apart again. The other question of the very black and contaminated looking oil in both chambers will obviously be checked again at 10hrs.the extra clip we are just writing off as one of the beta employees enjoying a little too much vino on his lunch break.

The anodizing process requires clamping for physical support and a heavy duty clamp for an electrical connection capable of high current. These areas, especially the electrical will leave a mark in the finnish and even the base metal. Care between the Tech and the anodizing contractor will insure the affected areas are located in areas which are cosmetically and functionally aceptable.

Did not see anything like this on kayaba.

There is another physic where kayaba showa etc. are made ?

I think, it is just poor process/quality control.

We all look forward in reading in another 10 hours of use that there is NO internal wear visible, as in some other Sachs forks in days gone past. When you posted these pictures over on TT many were kind of surprised that those marks are not in the wear areas at all.
At least I'm thinking/hoping the glass is still "half full" for now, unlike some others

I will definitely keep you guys posted.
I will say I got a solid 45 miles of fast and rocky singletrack on them yesterday, after the revalve and they felt amazing. Everything about the bike is actually. I too hope it's a cosmetic blemish and nothing more.
