I've had some Betas already and worked out supensions a lot. My feedback now to this is that the answers you are looking for are related to what you want the bike for. Standard RR suspension is not for racing (it's "the play bike"), however it can be improved a lot with proper valving and spring selection, however WP is a step above, even more TTX 22 cartdriges (I'm currently running those in my 2015 RR300). Sachs shock is a problem, really average not of my preference for high speeds, WP is a step above and TTX Flow is amazing.
So, if you are not a racer o rarely race, the RR300 standard is a perfect bike and suspensions do their work. Now if you race and will run at some speed then the race edition is a better fit, however the Sachs shock still will be an issue. If you race, suspensions make the real difference - and safety.
Hope my 5 cts help!
