Help SACHS CC 2018 Shim stack from Spain

Postby cr_5 » Sat Apr 25, 2020 11:37 am

Hi from Spain. I have a problem with this fork, is very harsh in rocks and roots. I change the oil for a Bel Ray 2,5 W and improve a little, more soft but when you go through a rocky area are very uncomfortable. In the circuit when you brake hard, the fork is very hard too and if you go through an area with a lot of potholes in a row is very harsh.
Anyone know any shim setting for more sensitive results??

The spring is the standard, second position preload to softer and my weight is 163lb.

This is the stock shims:

Taking pre-load off these fork springs helps a lot, I' believe it should be 4-6mm and they come stock much more than that.

Made a noticeable difference on my 18' 250rr and 20' 250rr.

I take off one position. If take off all, the SAG won't it go down a lot?

That 25X4 shims after the crossover doesn't look like the stock valving nor the 20X2 or the 14 and 12 clamps. The valving you have is not standard.
Try something similar to this with a SAE 5w oil between 15-20 cst viscosity.

At the very least you're oversprung. You might also consider increasing the float on the midvalve to improve suppleness.
