2013rr shock service time

Postby Toshy1 » Thu Feb 18, 2021 5:34 pm

I’m injured and have my 2013 300rr apart for some new main bearings and a general bike rebuild.
It has 180 hrs on it so now is a great time to service the rear shock. Anybody suggest what parts to replace, seal head orings etc. Any other tips would be great

Read the Sachs rear shock service thread below. It has information I, and others, learned when we did our service.

I typically replace the piston band on any service.

The seals on the Sachs shock seem to be very robust, although not a bad idea to replace.

Be sure to inspect the ID of the body for wear. Look for a shiny area where the piston has worn through the anodizing. Replace the body if you do see wear.

Set the piston height 8-10mm from full bottom.

OEM is a good source for parts and pieces.

You can also check out Ktech for seals and low friction piston bands.
