Fork Bleeders

Postby SpeedBlitz » Sun Oct 06, 2013 9:09 pm

Can someone confirm what is the thread size of the fork bleeders on the Sachs forks? I just put a deposit on a 2014 300rr and I'm researching accessories for it prior to getting it and I'm wondering if the Motion Pro KYB push-button bleeders I have (M5x0.8) will work on the Sachs.

Thanks,
SB

I don't know the thread size, but ended up ordering from the Beta byob. I was hoping to use a pair off one of my GG's but they were too small of thread size. So I do know that they are larger thread diameter than the '03 43 WP's and the '05 45 Zokes.

M5x.8. Same as the main Jap forks, Kayaba etc. KTM WP forks are M4.

There is a thread on here with a list of bits from other makes that fit the Betas as well as aftermarket parts.

What are you looking for in particular? I have done quite a lot of research myself so let me know if I can help short-cut the research you are doing.

Thanks Hubert!

I'll need to review that crossover thread now that I ordered the bike.

At the moment I'm just trying to figure what accessories I need and want so that when I get the bike I can spend some quality time working on the bike and get out and ride!

Actually, I was going to look at what options are available for spare wheels. I like to keep studded tires on a separate set of wheels so it's a quick changeover for ice riding. I think I read the KTM wheels are a close fit for the rear. Do you know if anything works on the front? I might start a thread on that. I'm sure there are others that would like a second set of wheels. Thanks.

The wheels debate has been extensive here in the UK. I gave a spare pair of 2008 KTM wheels but haven't tried them yet as they are behind a load of stuff at the back of the garage.

So far, it seems that the back wheel should fit but will need a bigger disc to match the Beta. The mounting points are the same and the disc from a 690 KTM is the same size if you want to use KTM parts instead; they are currently a good bit cheaper in the UK than the Beta OEM Galfer units.

The front wheel is supposed to be a good bit different and it takes a lot of messing about with spacers to make it fit, possibly too much unless you you have access to a good engineer with a lathe. Although the disc is the same diameter and the mountings are the same, the speedo/odo magnet mounting is further out from the spindle than the KTM unit. KTM changed the spindle sizes in 2012(?) so that might complicate matters.

Probably no substitute for offering the KTM wheels up and seeing what happens...

This has been discussed, KTM rear wheel WILL NOT fit. The rotor/sprocket offset is way off, like 16mm less. Husky wheel is basically the same, just need slightly longer sprocket side spacer. Front is Husky as well.

Thanks for the input guys. GMP, can you point me to the thread about the Husky wheels? I thought I had read most of the posts on this forum and the only thing I recall reading thus far was about the KTM rear being close. I must have missed it that one. Thanks

Go to JDs site and look at the pic of gasgastrials bike on the dyno. You will notice the caliper tied out of the way because it is impossible to fit due to the offset. Spacers are easy to fab, but you must start with the correct hub width/offset. KTM is close to GG wheels and I had several GG wheel sets. Trust me it was the first thing I measured when commited to the Beta and if it could have been done it would be done. I had a lot invested in spare wheels I would have loved to keep.
