These aren't new forks, they have about 1700 miles on them now and that's a 40/60 mix of road and trail. 500 miles is about 3 days riding for me.

Certainly nothing in there that was picked up by a magnet so I'm running the old oil through a coffee filter to investigate further.

Ok I guess I misunderstood. Still, the HD plastic used in spring guides will not wear like that, into a fine particulate suspended in the oil. Thats more indicative of worn anodizing. Separate the tubes, clean the ID of the uppers of all oil with a solvent and dry, so there is no optical distortion. Have a good look with a light, you will know either way fast enough. Not familiar with the Sachs first hand, but I once had a set of 45mm Zokes with uncoated damper rods that used to foul the oil fast. Polish and T3 hardcoat solved this.

I just sent my Sachs suspension off to Stillwells for a revalve. Stillwell does a lot of tuning for the Beta race team. He does good work for KTMs as well. I will let you know how it goes
