For Suspension Boffins !

Postby bombx3 » Mon Jul 06, 2015 11:00 am

Bike Beta 2015 300 Racing Zokies
Forks when new was harsh so I backed off PFP till it reached its max and I like them soft
90 hours later I thought they are still harsh so thinking about Revalves ,springs etc

Then a guy said turn the PFP in to harden them up , I thought what a ass !
Dam me they are amazing the best forks I have ever had !

How can this be ?

They need frequent servicing.

About every 40 hours or so they need a good servicing.

Bombx3 The progressive floating piston adjustment makes a huge difference. Backing it off should make it softer. It did with mine. Here is an excellent video where Alan Stillwell breaks it down.

About half that is more like it. If they start fouling the oil fast you have problems.

The pfp was backed out to the stop which is 2 turns past the Beta recommended , I wound it in 2 turns which is the standard setting

I've stretched TTX carts out to 50hrs in the past, and their recommended service interval is around 20hrs. These zokes really needed frequent services. There was a significant change in performance and always a certain amount of contamination - then the problem which has one cart turning oil black in a ride. They've been on the shelf since; too expense to repair, and too hard to source parts for (even more so now).

I'd recommend keeping fresh fluid in them if you want them to last.
