Ok, so I've put almost 300km on my XTrainer, it's completely stock, aside from adding a mirror and doing the float bowl overflow loop, handguards, and rad braces, minor stuff.

It's good for about 75-80km/h on the way to the trails, I haven't really played much with the power valve, I enjoy the low down torque, and tameness with it at the factory 3.5 turns.

The trails I ride, I'm nearly always in second gear.

I've got the 15/45 setup in the box that came with the bike, thinking I should try the 15t on there first, so I don't have to shorten the chain.

The furthest I ride the bike before I'll load it in the truck is about 45km, currently it's pretty tiring, trying to keep the bike at 80km/h for most of that distance, would be nice if it could cruise at 90-100km/h without feeling way over worked.

I'm worried about losing that lovely low end torque though, anyone have experience gearing these bikes taller, and how does it perform in 1st/2nd gear?

I know, gearingcommander... but that doesn't really help if you don't look at the speedo when you ride in the trails?

I only get to ride on the weekends due to work, so it's nice to know before the weekend comes, otherwise you spend too much time wrenching, and don't get to ride.

On the 300RR I did put a 14T at the front for similar reasons. Didn't really messed with the slow stuff but greatly improved the short trips along the road or open trails. For the XTrainer with plenty of low down torque I suppose it will work very well too.
Same as KTM if you need to buy one. For $20 it's an easy upgrade.
Recommended unless you only do slow technical stuff and never ride it on the road.

Guess I'll just throw that 15t CS sprocket on and hope 1st gear is usable.

Hope I don't need to add length to the chain.

15t front does not fit, chain is too short.

It fits... but the chain is too tight, only a few 100 km on the chain, so unlikely it will ever fit with stock length chain.

Oh well... I was going to throw on the Homologated gearing, but... not worth my time just to test it out, it's obviously too tall.

Good news for me is, the rear axle is something like 19.5mm, which means if I ever machine spacers for my RAD hub SuMo wheels.... I won't need to swap the bearings in the rear. Too bad the front is 21mm though, that's a huge pain in the ass because it needs a different bearing because the existing one is 20mm ID.

As mentioned, I fitted a 14 on my 300RR no problem. KTM part $20.

Yeah.. Just hoping the 15t would fit so I don't need to buy one.

Also the XTrainer has 13/51, so it would still be geared lower than your RR300 if I buy a 14t.

I think I might end up with 14/49, seems tall enough for road use.

I only travel in 80km/h zones.

Well I put a 14t on the front... went to the local Husqvarna dealer and picked one up.

Definitely better, first gear almost usable for me now.

Next step is a 49t rear sprocket.
