My stock DID chain has been the only thing to really fail on my '17 300RR Race so far at 30 hours. 2 o-rings were bulged at 10 hours, kept an eye on them, and now they're gone. Links are metal to metal in 2 spots now. Beta will not replace under warranty, even though obviously a manufacturing defect (by DID). Never had a chain fail like that before. Anyway, I don't want to replace the nearly new slider, just the chain. Think I'll drop the $$$ for the DID VT2 and give them one more try.

Would normally just buy the Rocky Mountain ATV house brand Primary Drive gold x-ring chain (has been great on many other bikes), but it is slightly WIDER (~2mm) than most chains so not a good fit on Betas with that tight clearance at the bolt/kickstand spring mount.

What chain oil are you using? Any other chemicals that are attacking the o-rings?

I doubt that chain oil ate the O-rings. Maybe it was an old chain stored in bastard conditions prior to install on your bike and it simply said "No Mas!"
I did a Google search for problems with your oil, none that I could find. I hope you have been luck with this chain

Package just got shipped...still on OR. Should be here in a couple of days. As far as a review, would think it would need a half season or so...unless it fails earlier. The one thing I didn't like from the pics is that the chain guard looks like it can't be reinstalled. Will know more at the end of the week.

So here it is. Just got it in the mail today. It doesn’t cover the spot getting worn, but hopefully should wear a bit before the chain starts to hit the subframe again. If you want to keep the chain guard on, then it will need to be modified as well as the spacer. Used a drywall hand saw to rough cut the Beta chain guard, and will put the spacer in a power drill (redneck lathe) and use the hacksaw to lop off the extra. I might also need a slightly longer bolt...but had to split real quick so more on that later. Is it worth it??? NO. But I’m bored as hell and the kids are driving me crazy inside the house.
