I use a lot of soapy water. I mount the tire by spraying a light amount on everything. What I do different is after mounting. I dump about 4 ounces in to the tire, bounce it around one rotation and then pressurize. The residual in the tire also makes it easier to find a puncture on the trail. I have found this technique to be clean, fast, and produce excellent seals. I have many times remounted tires successfully.

The last puncture I got with tubliss was identified by soapy bubbles escaping from the puncture. I actual didn't know I had punctured until we stopped at the end of the trail. I caught it out of the corner of my eye while standing by the bike.
