Linkage servicing question

Postby 74ossaguy » Thu Feb 22, 2018 6:40 pm

Hello, 2014 300RR, just disassembled the rear linkage and swingarm for the first time. The bike has 950 miles on it, plenty of mud riding but not a lot of creeks, never pressure washed. Everything was still wet inside with the exception of the shock pivot. Still, it is in need of fresh grease.

My question... I cant seem to get the bushings/steel colars/steel sleeve (not sure what they are called) out of this shock mount bolt part of the linkage knuckle? The other two bearing assemblies in the knuckle come apart for me no problem but this shock mount bearing I'm at a loss here?

Help, no service manual.

Mine was the same. Couldn’t push it out from the back side with a punch or pull it out like the others. The drawing shows that the seals might keep them in place. I just tried to push some grease in through the middle. Bearing moved smooth, so I was just going to check again next winter.

And the service manuals are on the betausa.com website under the support tab http://betausa.com/content/support

They come out. You just need to be persuasive. I thought the same with mine the first time I serviced them, but they do pop out. I used flat round punch, that caught on the lip on the ID of the bushing on each side.

Just look in the middle, you'll see a line. Put a punch in there and tap it out. It's like two little hats butted up to one another.

yes, I see knocking out the bushing knocks out the seal at the same time. That's what I needed to confirm.

Thanks guys - big help!
