You have to understand from a person that had no expierience with a Beta what a ball of yarn that rear section is. I simply stated that I was cleaning out the previous owners mud from the area which was a task. The general appearance is pretty nice obviously or I would not of chose a Beta over so many others. Guess I have to live with it. Thanks guys.

I have had a few Betas since 2009. I’m intimately aware of cleaning and maintenance of a bunch of different Betas and other bikes. Really it’s not an issue at all. I ride in mud almost every ride. It’s just like any other bike. Spray a little simple green and wash off. Really you have nothing to worry about. I have had zero issues with the rear of any of my Betas in mud and dirt. If there was an issue I’d take steps to change the rear end some way to improve after all these years of cleaning. Enjoy the bike! I think you’ll like it.. especially for technical.. but it’s a great versatile bike to me.

Every time I see the undertail section of a Husky or KTM I get jealous. You are not wrong OP. The design of the undertail on the Beta is horrendous. If you want to remove the black parts the tail light is on, the design leads to mud and water running directly into the air box and filling up all the nooks and crannies in the tail. All it would have taken is a simple redesign and put the overlapping plastic the other direction.

You know I honestly am not getting what some of you guys aren’t liking. I guess I have to look again at my bike to see what it is. My bike hasn’t flooded out or gathered mud or anything out of the ordinary from any other bike Ive owned. You guys got some pictures of whatever that shows exactly what you guys don’t like??? Please show some pics of what you guys don’t like.

I’ll try to look at some vids of both bikes to see what you guys don’t like.

I have my 12 350 race edition that doesn’t have the black underside mud flap/ light on and my 15 300 rr has the stock rr black flap and underside of the rear fender. My 09 525 RS has the RR rear black mudflap light in back. None of them are gathering more mud or water or have given me problems.

Here’s Webbs 14 300 rr. They just took off the flap. I can’t find any pics of my bikes underside of the rear fender.

Honestly this is weird to me. Ive had zero issues. Im interested to see what you guys have had problems with. I look forward to whatever pictures and vids you guys got to show.

I don't think any of us are complaining about how the bikes look. Between the actual finder and the tail light section and the air box there are these plastic reinforcement areas that tap so much mud that you have to take the fender off to get all the mud out. Have you noticed after washing the bike that muddy water will continue to drip out of these areas?

It is super annoying to have mud all caked inside the inner fender because after I wash the bike I always get dirty water drops on the swingarm. Like somebody said, to get it all out I would have to tear the bike apart. Kind of typical for Italian motorcycles to have some weird design flaws, but they are always beautiful and have a lot of character.

I took a couple of quick phone vids of my 350 with a section taken out and my 300 rr how it’s always been stock. .. just for reference. So I guess some don’t like this.. Honestly I never really inspected closely but in my case especially since looking closely I think it’s not an issue . But that’s me.

not sure is their is a communication issue but your videos were not what we are talking about. so on the second video after the bike is clean take the tail light piece off and boom mud. On the first video after the bike is washed look in the air box and tool area and boom mud. I don't run a tail light unless the race demands it so I don't have the mud packed in there to often. There is always mud packed in between the red fender and black air box. My comparison and complaint comes from the fact that on all my other bikes there was no in between or over lap. The fender ends where the air box begins. Not complaining about the look just the mud trap. try to take a vid when I wash my bike Saturday.

Ok. Just clarifying. It’s still not an issue to me. I get these bikes full of mud almost every ride and both are clean now and just washed after each ride. You see the pics. Just checking as no one has put up any pictures of exactly what the objection is. I guess there is some communication block to some extent as I have no issues with cleaning in and around the airbox or the rear fender on any of my 3 Betas or other bikes.I just wash till there’s no dirt or mud and it’s not hard or takes a long time. Hey everyone’s different.I just failed to see the problem here for me.
