EE Handguards?

Postby Josty » Mon Jul 09, 2018 9:44 am

I have Enduro Engineering hand guards on my 2018 300RR and I'm having trouble getting the brake lever to rotate down to where I like it. The EE bracket is interfering with the brake line. I've tried mounting the EE bracket in both directions (curved piece up and down) but not able to get enough clearance. I'm thinking of cutting the bars down some - not sure if that will make things better or worse. Anyone else using EE guards without problems? Other hand guard recommendations?

Thanks,
Art

We run a ton of EE stuff on our bikes and our customers. Can you add a picture of the concern. Thanks Dave

i know exactly what you're saying. I too like to run it lower. Not many options. But I did notice this weekend on the Yamaha 450s the break line is in front of the master cylinder which will allow the lever to be pointed down more. Only draw-back is the Yami part is like $130. Maybe find a used one somewhere?

I run EE handguards on both my Betas - after some minor modifications. I had to grind off (then polish) the corner of the right mount to clear my front brake line out of the perch to get the angle right. Both bikes the mounts are UNDER the lines. I'll take a photo if that helps...

Anyone here have experience with the Cycra hand guards on a 2018? Since the mounts are supposed to be up next to the handle bar clamps, it looks like there would be clearance issues with the top of the fork tubes.

Thanks for the replies. I'll get a picture posted a little later - I actually lost one of the bolts when riding yesterday, probably because it wasn't aligned very well. In the mean time, I'm thinking of trying these BRP handguard mounts. A little pricey but better than completely replacing the EE guards.

Dave, some pics attached. I left everything loose, when tightened down there is very little room for the brake line. The end of the metal jacket and the guard mount both want to be in the same place, so no option to rotate the lever down. I tried flipping the mount so it would go over the brake line but still no dice.

mtnmanseth, grinding would definitely help. Thanks for the suggestion

I may have to give those a try. I was looking at the BRP mounts again and I don't think they would reach unless the bars are cut down a good amount.

Probably a stupid question, but how bad an idea would it be to bend the end of that brake line just a bit?

I have a 13 300rr, if I remember correctly, I had to bend mine just a small amount. I have the EE hand guards.
