Well something may have changed then with late KTM wheels. Axel dia the same?

This is Beta Steve's '13 300RR on James Dean's dyno. KTM rear wheel and a street tire. Notice the caliper tied off out of the way because it did not fit.

KTM rear wheels haven't changed in ages. They did come out with the larger rear axle in 2013 but even with that you can use older wheels with the newer spacers and vice versa.

I haven't actually tried fitting the wheel on. That may uncover something else.

Well something is strange. I never tried either as I had none, but I did try GG wheels as I had two sets. My friend katoom400 here has a garage full of KTM spares from years on the bikes. I would think he would have tried it on his 300. Like I said, learn something new all the time.

They both measure 166 mm.

Interesting! ;)

If I remember hearing right someone mentioned that beta changed their wheels quite recently? At least in the rear?

Please try one and let us know how it works out.

The Beta wheel change was a sprocket bolt pattern in '13. Yes, try it. I suspect a change in KTM wheels at some point.

OK here is what I found.

This is working with a 2013 KTM 250 SX and a 2014 Beta 300RR

-KTM rear wheel lines up with sprocket and brake caliper on the Beta no problem
-Looks like you would need a 240mm rotor on the KTM wheel
-Beta has a 20mm rear axle and the new KTM (2013+) has 25mm. On the new KTM design the spacer do not insert into the bearings like before.
-The Beta spacers have a 25mm OD that will fit into the KTM bearings, if you replace the KTM seals with Beta seals
-The KTM and Beta seals have the same OD but the KTM is smaller ID so I was not able to get the Beta spacers fully into the KTM wheel

I attempted to mount the KTM wheel to the Beta with the KTM spacers in place. Found the disc side spacer about 2.5-3mm too proud to clear the caliper carrier. So I removed that spacer to mount. Once the wheel was on the sprocket side spacer appeared to align the sprocket perfectly.

So my thoughts are that this looks very doable. A 240mm rotor is a must. Beta seals may be needed unless perhaps old style KTM spacer would fit. I think whatever spacers are used (Beta or older KTM), turning down the brake side spacer may be all that is needed.

Did a little more research and it might be better to start with the 20mm KTM spacers since they will fit in the current KTM seals. One less component to mess with.

So might be down to the rotor and modified KTM spacers.

Rocky Mountain has some aluminum Tusk spacers for $9.99 that would be good fro R&D.

Might have to call Braking or Galfer direct on the rotor since all I could find in a 240mm for the KTM comes with a carrier adapter to make it fit on a standard KTM.

Τhe Beta wheel change was in 2013 (correct) but it was new, lighter hubs and consequently new disc [front] and new disc and sprocket [rear].
All this accounted 1.3kg off (3 lbs) bike's mass.
More importantly, unsprung mass.
