just getting my 300rr ready for a trip to wales, looked at my rear wheel spacers and both sides have two bad wear marks that have worn through the coating on the spacers ! i dont think the seals will last , and then crap will eat the bearings, thinking getting some made out of stainless steal, has anyone noticed this !!!!! thanks ned

This happened all the time on my KTM's. You pretty much have to replace the seals and the spacer when it gets to this stage. Stainless is not the answer though. Need hard anodized aluminum or they used make aluminum spacer with a hardened steel insert for KTM's but have not seen them in awhile.

I just set up a set of spare Husky wheels for the Beta with custom SS spacers. I've always done this, or machined the OEM spacers and pressed on a SS wear ring. After 30 hours my Beta spacers are fine, I assumed them to be hard anodized as they look the color. Any soft alloy non hardened spacer is junk here in the mud almost immediately.

Good find. These have been used in industrial apps for some time now, to fix pump shafts, etc that would otherwise mean long downtimes and high costs. I got lucky and found some stainless tubing here at work of the perfect OD, sliced off some rings and did the same thing.

I've used Speedi sleeves on a lot of applications including KTM wheel spacers, they work excellent but there expensive.

Good stainless spacers or sleeves of the same will be one of the longest lasting parts on the bike. The seals will also last without dirt under them. Good investment IMO, at least for those that see mud.

The spacers and seals at both ends are going now on mine. I had a set of SKF seals and spacers on my last KTM and they were a revelation. Lasted ages and were very water and dirt tight. I'll be speaking to the UK stockist I got them from to get some for the Beta.

We have had the wettest winter for over 150 years in the UK and trail riding has been closer to scuba diving. The axles have been seizing in if I haven't pulled the wheels within 24 hours of riding so the seals must be close to worn out. Even the tyres have been full of mud when I have taken them off.

I don't think the KTM ones are any use for either wheel on the Beta. Or does anyone know better?

I have a kit sitting but since my bike is still new (25 hrs) have not installed them yet...... but Chad convinced me not to let bad things happen.

Also reminded me that my nails need attention as well....
