Yeah, now we have Tim Coleman...who's freaking chain fell off the rear sprocket in the beach race. At least there is still hope with Pol Tarres

To me it’s still amazing Beta even has a budget to even sponsor these amazing riders... and OMG.. amazing they are. Tarres and Coleman are incredible. To me that they want to ride Beta is also a validation of how great the bikes are.

I would like to try a newer KTM because it's not a fair comparison to my old 2000 300exc. But the 300rr is so much more confidence inspiring. After riding a trials bike for the last 6 months (also a Beta), I feel like their trials roots shine through on the 300rr, making it a delight to practice trials stuff on it. The KTM was scary doing the same stuff on it, and just a lot harder to work with.

I did get a chance to try my buddies 2017 KTM freeride. He has tubliss, flywheel weight, throttle tamer and richer jetting. Good Lord that thing was like a trials bike with a seat, but again not in the same class as the 300rr. Here's some video where I try his Freeride later in the vid:

LOL I'm sorry for the quad. I had no choice, the Beta was shown so much that anyone watching would have gone crazy with lust had I not brought it back down a notch. Anyone who is not gay.

Thanks bud. I got my trials bike in February this year and have been teaching myself in my back yard, mostly by the aid of filming myself with my cell phone. I don't have a very big back yard, my total lot is like a third acre so when you throw in the house, detached garage, etc it doesn't leave a lot of room but in some ways that can be a good thing, learning in tight quarters. Good bit of room for the trials bike but the dirt bike just doesn't turn as sharp.

Great idea with the video, instant feedback! I picked up a trials bike last year, but I'm a bit older than you (48) and my lower back was killing me after 10 minutes on the bike..it was easier to try and do stuff on the dirt bike, at least I could sit and give my back a rest. I was with Graham Jarvis last week and we were talking about training on trials bikes and he said he just trains with the enduro bike now, he never rides the trials bikes anymore!

Yes, Jarvis is one of few pros that doesn't ride trials bike at all anymore. I have no doubt I'll be in pain once I get back on the trials bike, because it has been broke and I haven't rode it for 2 months. It takes a few rides to get the muscles used to the stance again. And I'm 25 so I got that going for me, still wish I started dirt riding 20 years ago instead of 3 years ago.

I wonder what he thinks about the new fuel injected two strokes, and how long it will take before he switches over.

off the record, it's not ready! which is what I figured being that they are only rolling them out in small numbers at this point.
