Too much sand for me to consider a trials tire. I do see a lot of them out there though.
A soft terrain tire that would work well in the sand will make the slickrock sketchy.
An Intermediate terrain tire works well.

I'm not a local but have been there a few times and can't imagine any tire being a problem on slickrock. That stuff is like velcro!

You would be surprised. I trials tire mounted with Tubliss running 4-5 PSI out performs any knobby on sand.
