Contemplating BETA

I'm currently on a 2011 GG300 Nambotin and it's a great bike, but I'm thinking about getting a newer model and trying a BETA. Since the 2015s will have the 2014 race edition engines, does anyone know how the race edition 300s compare to the base RR 300s? How different is the 300 when switching to and from high and low map. I'll be throwing a leg over a Beta 250 this weekend hopefully and maybe a 300 sometime soon.
Thanks

I came from KTM land to Beta. No regrets. Still like KTM but the Beta is just as good in many respects and better in others. Not sure how it compares to Gas Gas.

The Race engine has a higher compression head, a smaller exhaust port and a different ignition from what I understand. I just put an S3 high compression head on mine to help out with our high elevation here. It wakes up the bottom end nicely (not that the bottom end was bad) and gets rid of the gapiness in the tranny when riding at 9K' ASL.

Here is my thread on that mod

I find the map switch makes a significant difference compared to KTM. I find that on the aggressive map it really spins up into the upper range quicker. There is definitely a difference. Now with the head mod it is an auto wheelie machine on the aggressive mode. When I am doing technical trail riding and my rear wheel is breaking loose it is because I forgot to switch back to normal map. Beta USA tells me that the Race edition ignition is better than the standard. I would assume that that will be the new standard ignition on the 2015's.

Here is a thread on the map switch. On page two it shows what I did for a map switch

Do you like the compact feel of the '11 GG? If so you will like the Beta, it's close in approx scale. Everything else has been well documented here. Map switch makes a difference and PV adjustment makes a big difference.

Thanks guys! Good info. The size of the bike is what drew me to look at the Beta. The new GGs are taller and strangely, heavier than my 2011. I'm 5'8" and like the 36.5" seat height. Can't wait to ride one.

Seat height and reliable estart were my main reasons. So far I could not be happier.

Quality is what made me switch camps. The newer GG frame weighs a ton, and turning radius sucks. I'm 5'9" and the Beta is perfect. You will find the front end lighter than the GG, so weight forward and demo in the know!
