85w lube for trans

Is there any advantage or a reason to run Motul 85w trans lube in my Xtrainer ? Manual calls out 10w40 I believe....

Use a ?W40 MA or MA2 for the transmission. You got a wet clutch there and that's designed to work with that oil.
A car oil might cause the clutch to slip due to their friction modifiers.

Don't do that... Use the correct weight oil and not gear oil. Unless you like buying transmission parts/pieces and/or an entire motor if the case grenades.

I've only ran full synthetic ATF for decades in 2t and separate trans 4t. Nothing slips more than an automatic trams. No failures in a full list of bikes clear back to the late 70's. :D
The only time you need he 2nd Amendment, is when someone comes to take I away!

SAE-80 gear oil, specifically made for dirt bikes is equivalent to 10w40. I use Amsoil SAE-80 in my gear side. Motul even says you may substitute 80w gear oil in the gear oil side.
