Engine Shutoff

Postby TrailBeta#20 » Tue Oct 13, 2020 1:41 pm

Greetings Fellow Beta Riders: Have a 2018 Beta 300rr with 23 hours and 2021 250rr with 1.7 hours.

Both engines have been shutting off, during trail riding. Have followed dealer service tech recommendations of loosening gas cap; making sure fuel cock is turned to ON position; and Oil resevoir is not low. No engine light is coming on prior to shut down.

Any suggestions??

Does it start up after loosening the fuel cap? There is a green piece on the bottom of the cap, take that off and throw it away.

Thanks for the reply..I have removed the green piece on the 300 and used an inline check valve to avoid gas spills if I dropped the bike. The shutoff continued, so I put original gas cap hose back on, without green cap and there's still engine shutoff.

The 250 has the green cap still connected and stock cap hose.

Disconnect the kill switch and see if that helps.

If the engine is running fine & just dies quickly, it sounds like an electrical issue. Alternatively, does it sputter at all, or is it fast, like flipping a switch. Asking because a fuel/carb problem also comes to mind.
