2013 beta 300

Postby slhall81 » Mon Nov 23, 2020 1:11 am

I am new to the 2 stroke world. I have an opportunity to purchase a 2013 beta 300. The bike has a rekluse clutch and has been well maintained. The odometer shows around 600 miles, Ive heard the odometer does not work if the battery dies so I'm not certain how accurate the odometer is. Is it common for the paint to wear off the frame? According to the owner the top end has been replaced one time. I have ridden the bike and it seems nice for a 7 year old bike. Has much changed over the years beyond the oil injection? The owner is asking 4k. Any thoughts or insights would be helpful. Thanks

I have a 2016 300 with 150 hrs, and 2200 miles. It is one of multiple dirt bikes – so it does not get ridden exclusively. So, a 2013 with 600 miles is somewhat suspect. Plus, with only 600 miles, it probably has something like 35 or 40 hours on the bike. And hours matter more than miles on a 2-stroke. Having a top end done with very few hours (most do a top-end between 100 and 150 hours), again seems suspect. I would ask how many hours are on the bike, and see what he says. As for frame paint, depends on where it is. Did a skid plate or riders boot wear it off? Or is it worn in an area that suggests crashes and possible repairs? As for the price, I would not pay 4K for a low hour 2013. But, I do know many people are capitalizing on the Covid angst and people’s desire to get outside, and are getting top dollar on used bikes. So, it may be right in today’s market.

Other’s that have (or have had) a 2013 can chime in on the differences. Mainly suspension upgrades would be my assumption, and few engine improvements until you get to 2019 and beyond.

I paid $6900 for a 2018 300 (not race edition)with 47 hours this fall. Had to ship it from a dealer in Texas to me in Washington though. Pretty good shape too. Stock clutch. NADA says $7255 average retail.
NADA says average retail for a 13 non race edition is $3190. So, with the facts you listed, depending upon your location, I would not pay that much.
2018 300RR, SC2 Smart carb, Recluse Radius CX and left hand rear brake, IMS oversize tank, Seat Concepts low seat, rear Tubliss, oil injection deleted.

Thanks for the information. After going back and looking at the bike in the day light I found the paint to be a non issue. It is only a slight rub mark from the previous owners boots. I still have not pulled the trigger, for some reason in Utah 2 strokes are selling for 1500-2000 more than nada. I appreciate the help and wish you all a great thanksgiving.
