2021 2-stroke starter help

Postby tractorman769 » Sun Feb 21, 2021 3:40 pm

My 21 300rr starter will not stay engaged. Does anyone else have this issue? You do not notice it when the bike is warmed up because it takes very little effort to fire up But, on the first start of the day, (a time when the engine may need to spin over a couple or 3 times) it is very annoying.
It will engage momentarily, then the bendix will "kick out" and it just makes that zinging sound most people have heard before.
My son has a MY 20 200rr. It has never done this once
1. Bendix has been replaced
2. Fly wheel teeth were perfect
3. Battery has a full charge
What else could be causing this?
Thanks for any input. I love my Beta

Had a similar issue with my 20 300rr. Found Bendix seemed to be sticking in inner case bearing. Did not want to fully engage. Didn't seem to be enough lube in bearing.
1st, Clean bearing with light lube like bel ray 6in1 or similar.
2nd. Clean out oil res. for Bendix.
3rd. Manual calls for 7ml. of lube in case res. I used multi-vehicle auto trans fluid. Put a little extra in, maybe 2ml or so.

Starts great every time. No issues since.

Hope this helps!
