‘83 Husq CR500 Evo steed. I haven’t had very many laps on it the past couple years. The younger-guy “Revolution” classes have hi-jacked our local vintage MX events, not much fun anymore. It’s a holeshot king though if you have the spine and insurance coverage to give it a go.

My ‘14 Husq 300TE woods bike is the new-age equivalent, inspired by the ‘83-‘85 last Swedish white bikes. Grandpa and sonny boy. 8-)

Back to Beta, a couple of pics with bike after add-ons and equipped with my old KTM orange Coyote bag, rear attachment tab, and GL tank bag. Hoping this will do all the trusty KTM 500EXC has done, plus have great trail manners for the unladen single-track days. First DS trial run planned for the end of the month!

I’ve put in heavy duty tubes for off-road work, and sticking with the Metzler 6-Day Extreme tires that came on it for now. They’re DOT and pretty stiff knobs, but have worked well-enough so far on slick and rocky single-track. Probably will go to a Goldentyre GT216aa front and a Kenda K760 Trakmaster rear when these wear out. They’ll take some miles and have been great for 90/10 dual sport riding. I’ve found the Goldentyre front tire is excellent and long life for off-road, and the Kenda rear is at a great price without giving up too much traction.

Took the 390 out for about 250 miles of OHV trails, some single track and Forest Service dual sport roads over a few days. No disappointments! Ran like a top, love the handling, light feel and the available grunt when needed.

I’ve gone with the Guts tall/soft seat with the Velcro cover attachment set up on a new OEM Beta seat pan—YZ-blue body and stripes, matches well. My arse felt great after lots of miles and it’s not too soft (so far) as I’d worried about. Put on an under-bar steering stabilizer mount for a 1-1/4” bar rise and to mount up the Fastway 3 stabilizer unit off my old bike. Added Motion Pro fork bleeders. Made a 2” riser plate to remount the stock speedo set up to, got it up where I can see it and hit the re-set buttons. I bought a 14T front sprocket to try out. The 13/52 is pretty spot on, but could use a bit higher 6th for road work. Still considering a larger IMS tank, hoping Acerbis might add an option.

My only hiccups are pretty minor—rear tire still rubs on inside of the FMF Ti exhaust can, even after I tweaked the hangars to try to add some room. On my 3rd back-up battery #2032 for the speedo in just 600 miles… seems like from posts that the backlight runs off the battery while riding? Dunno, annoying, but not losing sleep over it though.

Finally got mine home Holeshot. I got the factory Beta street kit on it. I thought I was just getting the turn signals, but it came with 2 mirrors, new rear inner fender and license plate mount.

Congrats 898. Is that the ‘22 390 or? I’d not heard of the Factory Street Kit, and nothing comes up in search at Betausa.com…are you in the US? Signals look like the RR type signals but the taillight—have never seen that one either. Did the kit include the wrap around hand guard protectors, or aftermarket items you added?

I’ve been riding all dirt on the Husq-KTM 300 2Ts and KTM 450-500EXC for years, as my base of comparison. Curious to hear your feedback and comparisons to your previous rides.

It's the 430 RR Race Holeshot. I'm in Canada. When I ordered it after seeing my dealer owner's 21 430RR he mentioned that they all have the wiring for and switchgear for the signal lights and horn on the race editions. And he said you could get signal lights for them.

It is basically the same components they put on the RRS dual sports. I paid $299 Canadian and it came with the signal lights, both mirrors and the new inner rear fender to hold the signal lights. The brake light is the stock one that came on the bike. And it also came with the GIANT European license plate mounting plate.

I added the Cycra Ultra bark busters and hand guards (it came with just the plastic hand guards) and P-Tech rad braces.

One thing I don't know anything about is it also came with an adapter my dealer hadn't seen before and he said it is to allow the use of a standard automotive OBD2 scanner on the Beta data port.

My reviews probably won't do you much good because I haven't ridden a modern dirt bike since 2003 when I had a KTM300EXC and a Honda CRE500.
But I can say I like the power. It has no "powerband".....it pulls right off idle all the way to the top. It feels pretty strong to me.

I'll let you know more once the rain and snow quits and I can get out and get more miles on it.

I love the old Husky! Here's my two antiques. A 77 Honda Elsinore MR175 and a 77 Yamaha IT175.
