i had to change my spark plug

Postby fenderworks » Wed Jun 07, 2023 2:33 pm

well, after 123 hours and 2050 miles............i had to change my spark plug.
always wondered how long a spark plug would run.

everything was going well, no issues with the bike. i stopped for a break, turned off the engine. ready to go, tried to start the engine...no go.

first thing i checked was the spark plug, cause i knew this was it. put in new plug, and all is good.

this post is for your entertainment value and mine also

This really goes down to a good clean jetting and how you ride, my forst bike, a GASGAS 250 2003, the carb was a little worn out in the needle seat and it took me some time to get it dialed in using a thicker needle from Suzuki... nevermind, during that period I killed a lot of sparkplugs, one per ride or so... Once jetted correctly that problem vanished.

With my actual Beta RR300 2019 I only change the plug when I change the piston (first with 180h , second with 145h).

I still carry a replacement plug everytime I ride, reminiscence of my gasgas times :D
