2014 Betas Arriving in 3..2..1..

2014 Betas Arriving in 3..2..1..

Postby twowheels » Thu Aug 08, 2013 10:11 pm

The first 300RR is here and nearing finish prep ... the first 250RR will follow by August 16.

Most notable change is the tank, but boy is that flo-red bright!

The seat cover is a well-done 3-panel semi-gripper without the pocket the 2013 Racing Edition saddles had.

Popping the seat reveals the new battery/CDI hold down strap ... very minor point, but highlights Beta's attention to customer's comments.

The proof will be in the riding, but it looks like the suspension changes made for '14 were all in the right direction, particularly the stock 5.2 rear spring.

Every bike gets a full prep and inspection, and can be set up however you like in terms of grips, bars, pegs, guards, springs etc.

Give me a shout if you're itching for a new ride and I'll look after you.

Pics to follow (but you know what they look like anyway).

Sounds good Steve. I've been getting PMs and emails about mine, and interest in the '14 Race models, particularly the fork. I assume they won't be until later fall/winter. If a guy wanted a '13 300 Race like mine are there any left?

Glenn: To my knowledge I sold you the last 300 Racing Edition in the country. The Sachs forks on the 2013 were quite good after a slight massage and spring change - the cartridge and piston changes on the '14s should make them even better out of the box.

Thats what I thought, just wanted to make that clear and not give the false impression that the Race models of either year are available.

I have raced a 2013 250RR all season and really like the bike. A small valving tweak and springs on both ends made it superb - stock the '14 should address that at both ends.

Ride it first and develop a baseline opinion. I think this is the first Sachs with the smaller cartridge, not a GG Sachs, so with all due respect Les (and Steve also) would have a much easier job getting a perfect result if he can relate your evaluation to the stock valving.

Give the stock stuff a chance and make sure to follow the spring recommendations for rider weight. I am loving the 2013 sachs suspension on my 250. I went down on the springs to a .40 up front and a 4.6 on the back. I weigh in at about 155. I cant imagine going up on the rear spring or that amazing fork. Maybe there is some magic with my rider weight, springs, and the stock valving. This is hands down the best suspension I have ever felt on any bike ever.
