Stillwell suspension revalve n setup

Postby Ctkny » Sat Apr 30, 2016 2:27 pm

First ride today doing 38 miles on revalved forks and shock.

When I Called them up I was told five day turn around time. Five days turned into eight when was shipped back.

My biggest complaint with them is that they want to charge you 50 bucks for a garbage thin box and cardboard dividers to keep your shock and forks from being beat up. I used my factory connection box instead.

I have had pro circuit, mb1, factory connections do past work and if they would touch Sach I'd send them out with out a worry. . Returns where always over packed and bomb proff boxed. Not with stillwell they don't protect your parts at all. I have photos from it if it's questioned. Only item that was wrapped in foam padding was my stock springs.
Ok so ups drops of box with my shock hanging out of the box and a few rips in the cardboard box from their gentle handling. Reason the box is so thin it's junk. So I called and get "there's never been one problem ever with our shipping." Seeing it I find it hard to believe!!!

Forks
Spring 46
Comp 8
Reb 6
Oil 340
Pre load 4mm
Fork hgt 1st line

Shock
Com hs14 ls14
Reb 14
Spring 6.2
Sag 110

Static after setting sag. 26.

Not impressed with the setup.

.46 forks and a 6.2 rear are you sure ??? Sounds way out to me as does your rear sag.

Yep that what they have down. Not happy with it

Unbalanced feel, front doesn't give any confidence with pushing while trying to ride faster.

Il give a ring back to them Monday and hope they make it right.

well that's sucks. Thanks for the heads up. I was debating sending my marzocchi forks to stillwell or zip-ty. Glad I chose zip-ty. While they were a little poor on communication, my forks came back in good condition. the revalve is just ok. A liitle bit better but still not as plush as I'd like. If I wasn't on the west coast, I'd give two-wheels a try

got mine done by Stillwell and it is much improve (stock was not very good) but still not where I would expect it - to the level of other suspensions I've had completely redone.

I will be taking out fork comp and shock HS comp (4 clicks) to tro to improve things next time out.

I am 195 w/o gear C vet in woods/HS riding on a 16 250RR. Here are the settings from still well

When did you have yours done? Did you call them over any concerns?

in Jan, have not called them but this thread prompts me to.

I shipped mine in a plastic golf club shipping case from walmart. which UPS beat the hell out of. broke off one latch and punched a hole in the side. I shudder t think what cardboard would have looked like.

yours are the RE zokes vs my open chamber Sachs. so the oil level would be different. the 6.2 spring on the back seems heavy. what is your weight and skill level/terrain?
