Hyde racing engine guard and Obie Linkage guard

so.. I had very high expectations for those..but..

Hyde skid plate is nice and light, but I was expecting more coverage from it.. I would suggest that Hyde racing posts better pictures on the website.
so, overall I just do not think it's $90 better than stock. that, combined with the fact that mounting holes did not line up and I had to take pipe off to figure out the problem and drill holes in proper spot, I would not buy it again. comparing with EE guard, Hyde is not in the same ball park. and not even including washers for $90? unforgivable.

Obie link guard

I had no expectations for $40 piece.. but nevertheless..why not include some mounting hardware?? fit also had to be adjusted with Utility knife.. overall it fits OK after 30 min with a knife, not sure how much protection it will deliver. will see.

I was working with Obie on the link guards for a bit. He sent me 2 prototypes and I was not happy with the fit. I mentioned that the final design wouldn't sit flat to the bottom of the frame. I guess he decided to go with it anyways
Glad you got yours to work,

basically I had to cut it so it would fit between the frame downtubes and attached it to the engine guard. it's also being held in place by main engine guard bolt..

it was very easy to cut it with the knife, so material is much softer and pliable than Hyde engine guard.

With the Hyde sump guard for the Beta 2t, is easier to start the front bolt behind the pipe first then swing the back up into place.

tried that first of course, holes were not even close.. maybe it was one particular that I got, but it was not a good fit.

Thanks for the report. Wish I'd waited one more day to order my Obie link guard, but it's already on the way. They didn't have a 520RS listed, but correspondence from Obie said they'd take it back if mine was different than the RR model. Hope it fits.....

The thing about Obie is that it's pretty much universal and can be made to fit with good knife or Dremel, drill and few bolts and nuts. I just think it's overpriced for what it is and I will report on how it Holds up with time.

You could make that in minutes for less than $10 worth of material.

This is just for reference.. There's a bunch of Beta fit products so I'm just putting it for some to scroll through. I didn't know they side cover guards and swing arm guards.. didn't see some pics of them..

My Hyde fit the same way.
It's like it shrunk after the molding.
