NuTech Tubliss, a model for customer service!

Postby GMP » Fri Sep 25, 2015 7:36 am

Rode an enduro a couple weeks ago, and when I checked into a brutal rocky A section and waited for the start control flip, I noticed my front tire was almost flat. Being its a Tubliss install, I elected to ride the section and the next transfer to the gas stop. Bike handled OK being the tire was locked to the rim by the HP liner, as expected. All went as planned and I plugged a small cut at the gas in minutes and rode the second half with no drama. The system did its job, if I was running a tube I'd be done. Fast forward to tire change during the week. Found the LP fill stem that is part of the rimlock assy bent. I'm sure this happend pounding rocks for miles with a flat, where the sharp edge of a rock found the rimlock. Emailed Jeff Douglas @ NuTech for a price and availability of a rimlock assy as its not listed as a standard replacement part. Explained what I felt happened, that it was my abuse and no fault of the system. He thanked me for my feedback and had the part sent out to me 2 day Priority Mail, no charge! This is on a 2 year old system! I call it like I see it, good and bad, and this is a top notch product with excellent support.

definitely not a one off, glenn. i did a lot of reading about them on the forums because the whole setup sounded a bit like a gimmick and too good to be true. lots of examples of the guys sending out free parts even though riders said they had damaged bits and pieces... a big thumbs up from me when guys stand behind their product like that.

the bunch of guys i ride with have all been watching how i've gone with them and all except one are switching over next time their tyres wear out.

I'm not new to Tubliss, I was an early adopter when it was first released and had several sets of the first gen system with the thinner liner. There were a couple issues like one lot of the rim tape having a rough cut edge causing the inner bladder to fail, all of which were handled the same way, so yes this is the norm for this company. Jeff tells me they hope to release their own tires soon, the front he describes as being like my favorite M59 with a tougher sidewall. Sounds good!

I spoke with Jeff today and he said that they are releasing a 145psi compact foot pump next week to use on the trails if needed.

that's one of the reasons i swung over, reading of their amazing aftersales support. almost all the guys i ride with have converted over now because they saw the extra traction i was getting up hills and in mud.
