2016 250RR

Have had my new Italian beauty for a little over 2 weeks and have completed 2 races. Bike is just awesome, that's all there is to it. Jetting from 1/4 throttle and up is super crisp. It's a little blubbery from idle but not too bad. Needle comes stock in 2nd clip from top and pilot is a 35 so seems like it should be crisp down low too. If anybody has figured out better settings please let me know.
I need to play with the power valve a little bit to figure it out. The bike makes excellent torque for a 250 but still rips when you open it up. I bought the map switch and think the softer map may work better in the tight stuff. With the aggressive map the bike picks up and comes on the pipe quicker than with the soft map. Both are plenty fast, it's not like the soft map turns it into a total marshmallow, it just slows everything down just a touch.
The suspension is very good. Mines probably just now breaking in and likely will get better. No problems with deflection off of tree roots and rocks due to the suspension. Seems to soak up anything I throw at it.
Overall fit and finish is very good. Quality components used on bike. Wish it had Brembos but the Nissans work well. Clutch is awesome but will exhibit a small amount of fade if abused.
The only complaint I have are the tires. I'm not a fan of the Comp Enduro tires and have ordered Scorpion Pros to replace them. Also need to pay attention to the 2T oil tank. If the bike is on the stand the oil catches in the filler neck and appears to be full but isn't Tip the bike the other direction to move the oil through the neck in the tank and you'll get it full.

You didn't indicate what part of the country you're in, but one thing on the carb is that most have found the float level a little high and there is plenty posted here along with jetting. After I adjusted the float and dropped the needle one notch my 300 seems very good and returns much better fuel mileage. Most of my riding is from right around 3,000 to 7,000. Most have indicated the Beta jetting list has worked for them and there are others who have went further than others to fine tune it - lots of good info with a little reading.

By the way, congrats and welcome to probably the most mature acting Beta forum.

I'm at about 1,600 feet above sea level. The Beta guide says it should be good with what it has in it, and it's really pretty close, just could be a little cleaner off idle. My buddy bought the 300RR 2 days before I got my 250RR. His float was high enough fuel would run out the overflow. I don't have any problems with mine, I think it's more of an issue with the 300. His bike seems to carburete cleaner than mine off idle and I believe his has a 38 pilot and a richer needle.

A few local guys found the same thing with the 250's, nice crisp bike but a bit blubbery off idle.
We have found going to a NECJ or a NEDJ suzuki needle on either the 3rd or 4th clip with a 35/38 PJ changed that off idle to a nice crisp transfer all the way through onto the pipe.
It didn't change anything else with the bike other than clean up the off idle to 1/8th throttle :)
One other fella did play with MJ and has been going back and forth with running 162 or 165 and seems to be no real difference with running either only maybe a slightly more fuel usage, but really nothing to be concerned with ...

I used a NECJ until I had my Squish adjusted and then I went back to the Beta jetting. The RB head mode could handle the increased fuel and turn it into a nice power gain.

I actually have a NECJ needle in my parts box. I raced a 2005 RM250 for 5 years. I'll drop it in this weekend and see how it does.

Most guys who liked the NECJ ran it on the 4th clip with the 38 PJ
A couple preferred it crisper and found the 3rd clip a bit stronger ...
I would suggest the 4th clip to start with and see how you go but definitely run a 38 PJ with it :)

On my '14 250 at sea level-1000ft asl, 45-low 80's fahrenheit (8-32c), p/v 1.5 (stock setting), with a shortened silencer (330mm) 35p, 165m, a/s 1.25, NECJ 3rd pos is a slightly toey, yet smooth setting.

No blubber off idle with a very clean power curve thru mid-range till the bike is on the pipe.

Then hang on.

That about sums it up Gibby. Tried it out tonight in some slow speed technical stuff. NECJ in middle (3rd) position with stock 35 pilot and air screw about 2 turns out. Blubber is gone, power is smoother and more controllable. Also had a chance to get on the pipe for a 4th gear run. Seemed very strong, could back out the rear end at will. Much improved from stock. I think the oil injection system on the 2016 causes the bike to run richer at lower rpm. Less oil equals more gas, hence a richer mixture. The real shame is that Beta doesn't sell the bike with a copy of this needle.

Put 25 miles on it today. Some slow speed hill climbs and some flat out wfo across a bean field. Most versatile 2T I've ever had. Bike will tractor up hills without a hiccup then pull 70 MPH in the open. Amazing. I think I'm going to go up a tooth on the rear, I don't need that much top speed. The NECJ is very good in this bike. Remarkably smooth, I even went closer to stock on the pv setting. The stock jetting was blubbery then hit the power valve, very taxing in tight stuff. It's much friendlier now.
