Acerbis Xgrip frame guards

Postby little_wing » Thu Oct 19, 2017 7:21 pm

hey all
Finally got my Acerbis X grip frame guards in for my beta.http://www.acerbis.it/motorsport/en/product/plastics/x-grip-frame-protectors/0022894#a_page
so 2013-2017 are the same part number.. as far as I know 2018 have not been released yet.
so over all I think the build is good.
they are longer then the stock frame guards by about 6 inches
the plastic is thicker then the stock. then add the thickness of the rubber. but over all I think they are 1.5 times thicker then the stock.
the rubber is a harder rubber that I think should last long yet still be grippy.

as for price they worked out to be 70 CND which also included shipping. I would not be surprised if the local bike shops sold these for round 50-65 CND if and when they come to the Canadian market.
From discussions on this forum Acerbis USA is bringing in round 15 ish sets for afterhourscycle.com to sell but there has not been a date for when the stock will be available to the US market.
See this thread http://www.betarider.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2559
from what I understand it will be round late this year or early 2018
Contact afterhourscycle.com if your interested as he has spoke with Acerbis to get a order of these.
Acerbis USA was not going to bring this part number for the betas in to the USA and Canadian markets as they did not feel that Beta had a large enough following.. But with the Interest from afterhourscycle.com and others I am sure its going to quickly prove Acerbis USA wrong.

I will have a ride report with them after this weekend when I ride

If they do have them, they're not getting them from Acerbis USA. Confirmed with Adam that they haven't established part numbers or received any product yet.

I got my set a few months back.. I must say great bit of kit here..
works well protects more of the frame then the OEM black covers do,
I did a few things when installing them tho,
I had black foam tape. about 1/2 inch wide and maybe 1/2 tall. but when you compress the tape it compresses to maybe 1/8 inch tall.
i cleaned the frame with contact cleaner then put the tape on the frame. i am not sure if the guards will buzz or anything but i dont care for and vibrations so i put the tape.

the second thing that i did was the kit will come with black zip ties. i had some red zip ties so i tried them to see if i liked the look better and i must say i do. from a couple feet away the zip ties fade in to the sea of red. and you dont notice them. makes the guards look factory and stock.

the color of the guards is 98%$ perfect to the beta red. only in certain light can you tell...
they are thicker then the factory gaurds and the black rubber part is grippy yet firm enough not to wear out or rip.

and for anyone that has other non beta bikes in your stables. i am sure twowheels can get you a set for your ktm honda ect...
