BristolCore Silencer packing Pillow

Postby little_wing » Sun Feb 11, 2018 5:16 pm

So I needed to pack my 2 stroke silencer on my 250rr
Seeing that its an FMF I naturally looked to FMF packing. But then I remembered repacking my YZ250 and second guessing myself if I put enough packing or was the packing to loose or to tight.
Also for the length of the beta silencer I would need two packs of the standard FMF packing but only use about 1/3 of the second pack
so I thought that there has to be a better way.
searching youtube I found a video about Bristolcore packing pillows.
and thought wow that's a idea.
they make a stitched "pillow" of packing that comes on a card board tube

So I started to look on there website about repacking FMF with their "pillow"
http://www.bristolcore.com/FMF_Repack_s/35.htm
on that page there is a paragraph that will help you choose that size you need.
As that Beta had FMF make the silencers I thought that It would be the perfect match.
turns out that Bristolcore did not make the right size for the factory Beta silencer.
I was bummed,
but I emailed Bristolcore to see if they can make custom pillows.
The guys at Bristolcore came to the rescue and said yes they do.
after talking on the phone I quickly relized that Bristolcore is the real deal. They are Riders that happen to make exhaust packing.
after getting them the measurements they need to make my pillow it took them a couple of days to make it and ship it out.

as for the install it was fast simple and clean
take your silencer off and take it apart. clean out the old nasty packing and clean the inside of the silencer and the perforated core.

then side the pillow and the card board tube on the perforated core of your silencer

as you can see the packing is a perfect fit. not to loose not to tight and perfect amount.
This cuts down on the time to repace your packing.
and makes it alot easier.
Bristolcore makes 4 stroke 2 stroke and street bike and offroad packing kits
check them out for your next repacking job.
the part number for the Beta 250/300 2013-2018 is 14629
Here is a link to their web page and the part used
