HR: just a little trimming on the shrouds - for a better idea as to how much just go to the IMS site and pull up the instructions on it. Pics are pretty good and it spells it out. I'm happy with my tank, the first developed a leak at one of the shroud fastener insets and IMS got me a new one in a short time. I originally used the right side petcock that comes with the tank, but it is a cheap piece - so I removed it and made a cover to close the opening. That also got rid of all that extra fuel line and joints, and I went with an automotive fuel line to get rid of the industrial sized fuel line that is provided. You can feel the difference with the tank especially in the extra weight up high, but you soon get used to it. After setting float height and jetting to my riding area I can now get around 80 miles to the tank at a fairly good rate of speed. I would think that it would be sufficient for around 70 miles at a race pace.
