250rr how to soften clutch

Postby ac75 » Mon Jan 12, 2015 10:38 am

Hey Guys,

So i have a Beta 250rr 2014, i am having great fun, had the bike for about 6 months now, novice/inter rider, but I battle with arm pump, so what are my options, how can i soften the lever pull a little? I do everything i can for fitness and strengthen and hydration etc. BTW if anyones wants to strengthen their grip u need therapy putty from the physio, i smashed my hand against a tree, yep, i now know how important barkbusters are now!

Also the small spring on the pin in the clutch lever is always popping and bending and staying out unless i realise and take the cover off and try and push it back, is there a better lever than stock ones?

Rekluse - Am not sure if i want this but appreciate the benefits
Maguara - Advice?
Change levers -
Any other suggestions

And as much as i love the 250 is there much difference 250 and the 300?

many thanks

Abe

I went rekluse route. Clutch pull is harder a bit, but you get to use it a lot less.. becomes really optional now and bike is a lot easier to ride.

I doubt its the clutch, especially if you train. I'd guess that your just not relaxed enough, and gripping to tight.

Also, use the clutch less, you can lug the crap out of the moto arc levers are really nice, you may need to bleed your system also, or adjust your lever. The 250 clutch is pretty dang light and smooth. It is a one or max two finger clutch.

+1 on bleeding.
If that's not enough then the only way is this: http://www.midwestme.com/

Thanks guys!

ks9mm -Rekluse concern i have is that i use a lot of engine breaking but i guess in turn i wld learn to use the brakes better? i cant find anyone with a rekluse , really want to try it tho, does it help in woods, logs etc?

GMP - Its not so much death grip, well at times its all DEATH GRIP LOLOL, its more old road racing injury and some discs resting on the nerve, so am good for a while but then arm pump kicks in, so trying to figure out something that will help an old injury.

Will try and bleed it, start with the simple lol, dont get me wrong the clutch is not really the issue, its more me lol

Midwest looks interesting but i am more a woods rider and slip the clutch a lot so not sure if midwest clutch will work so well.

Bassman - Arc levers are just the levers or the whole clutch mc etc? I do like the look of them.

Anyone put a Magura clutch on a BETA?

Have a look at this:

Or maybe this, but be ready for the price shock:

I've read about the Midwest lever, and a lot of people like it. It still seems like a half-meassure if you use the clutch a lot.
I've moved my lever/master-c. to the center of the bars so that I use only the index finger on the lever. It works well for me on the 4T.

I think I saw one report on that, and the guy said it made it even firmer and took it off.

I see this statement all the time just wondering where it comes from. When set up correctly you would never know a bike had a Rekluse unless someone told you.

Regarding the Rekluse; you will find that people like it or hate it. I have not installed one on my Beta (as yet) because I learn more about a bike having to utilize it as delivered, however I had ridden with one since 2005 (40th Anniv. present from my wife) on my YZ250's and loved it. As said, once you learn how to use it - you don't notice it and it really helps in tight woods in that you don't have to cover the clutch. Not saying YOU will like it, but if you get a chance to try a bike with one it will help you make up your mind, that is if you get to ride it long enough. Now if you are an old trials rider that controls extreme maneuvers with the clutch then you will most likely not care for it. I have not ridden a bike with the new gen Rekluse that the Beta requires, so my comments are mainly on the Pro that was on my 09 YZ.
