I noticed on the video that you are using a steering damper on your 300.

I'd be very interested to hear the details and how you get on with it. Have you had it on from new or have you been able to compare the handling before and after fitting? Does your riding buddy with the other Beta also use one?

I was using a damper on my last bike but the fittings stop me using PHDS handlebar mounts that save me from a lot of issues with arthritic joints.

I have been riding with a damper for 20 years so it seems any bike I ride without one feels twitchy and loose. My buddys 400 does not have one and it felt pretty good and planted.

I have certainly noticed going back to not having one after my last bike.

Yours looks like a Scotts or Ohlins from the brief shot of it on the video. Did you need to buy any specific mounting kit for it to put it on the Beta?

I actually had BYOB install it. Its a scotts on a BRP flex sub mount. Here is a link with a pic http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj25 ... 333e26.jpg

That's great, thanks for the photo. BYOB isn't something we have in the UK so it's really useful to see the finished article.

I'll check the American Beta site and see if I can find UK suppliers for the parts.

Here is my top mount, ignore the Flexxbars. Scotts/BRP tower, Fastway adjustable mount/topclamp, Slavens cable guide. A cable guide is a MUST, as to avoid a cable snag, but you could rig up your own. One thing, the tower was a big PIA to fit and required a lot of grinding to clear the frame welds. By far the most labor intensive job of setting the bike up. It does fit now though and is secure.
