i sold my old DR650 to focus on the cross training for a while, decided it was time to get back into adventure riding and got a brand new DR650. it was meant to be an easy ride but wound up trying to do some cross training on it, with mixed results lol!

Another vid just generally crapping on about stuff as if I had half a clue, when to more accurate I've probably got roughly a 18.4% clue about riding and dirt bikes in general.

log hop technique no. 7, a tricky one but well worth mastering for the really big logs...

Hopping logs using the zap: https://youtu.be/LudPQtGsmJ4

the zap is simply a trials term for dropping the clutch but in a very controlled way. many of the incredible stunts those trials riders do are based on the huge amount of drive they get from the clutch.

after endless whining about how dry and dusty it is around here we've had a fair bit of rain just lately. we popped out to do some trails that are famously greasy after rain to test out the traction skills, and then head over to some of the very snotty hill climbs nearby...

second last in the log hop series, this isn't really needed often but handy to have up your sleeve for small angled logs... plus the bunny hop itself is good for clearing gaps and ruts.

finally... the last log hop technique! left this till last as i figured it's the least likely to be used, but handy to have up your sleeve.

it's essentially balancing with your front wheel against the log, or even halfway up if it's a big one, then dropping the clutch to get over - useful if there's no room for any run up.

over the past year occasionally guys have said they wouldn't mind flying over to arse-trailer and doing some adventure riding around here. here are a few tips if you do....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVDv1r_65q0

and just a warning, the visa requirements specifically for adventure riding are tough:
- You must be able to wheelie a postie bike for 200 metres
- You CANNOT drink warm beer if you are a pom
- You must assimilate (e.g. burp, fart, crotch scratch & talk through their nose)
- You must smear yourself in koala pheremones & ride up front to attract the drop bears.
